I couldn't decide which dishes to use for Tablescape Tuesday. I believe I've shown most everything (except for the Bethany Lowe dishes, and the gray ones, of course). Then I remembered some dishes I hadn't unpacked.
But first, I placed candles around the white tureen. And I put the tureen on a green Bordello platter.
Next, I added my monkeys.
And "Monkey Business" was born.
A view from Dr. G's chair.
I've showed this little jug before, but he's so cute, I decided to use him today.
I love the detail on the tureen.
This is the smiling monkey.
And the giggling monkey.
Another view.
I added my old nut dishes.
Here's a close up of the old silver. I love to mix it.
Several years ago, I bought little bobeches for the candlesticks. You'd never know they're plastic.
Some of the candlesticks were my mothers.
The silver was bought one piece at a time at tag sales.
I have a weakness for midcentury pottery, and I love the old Metlox "Sculpted Zinnia."
I paired it with green Depression glass.
The ecru napkins looked blah. I tried florals, and they were too wild. The green Thanksgiving napkins (K mart) look much better in person (not quite so dark), but I do wish I had a flirty plaid.
I get lost looking at crystal.
See you at Susan's house, Between Naps on the Porch for more tablescaping.
Gorgeous! Wonderfully creative. I love the monkeys!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable with the little monkeys; just love these little guys and the green stemware.
ReplyDeleteThe plates are so pretty with the large yellow flowers look like they are fresh and ready to fall off the plate. Too lovely Gollum.
This is one of the best you have shown.
Blossom
Ok, I probably wouldn't have thought of it, but the monkeys are cute! Love the green goblets.
ReplyDeleteI love the green stemware and the depression glass, I think I have a creamer, of the depression glass. The tureen details are so lovely. All the crystal looks great! Plastic, never would have known! The Monkeys are adorable! Makes the table look so magical, with the Monkeys! Sorry about Dr.G. I know that hurts! No fun! Can you believe, no baby goat yet! Now we are just hoping and waiting! I wish I knew the due date! Its driving me crazy, watching her all the time! lol She has a great bag! My leg is healing from my goat horning! Just came from the chicken house, gave away a Rhode Island rooster tonight. It was dark and I hope I did not give away Big Red! He eats from my hand. Will check in the morning light and make sure he's still here, if not, I going to trade him back! lol Love your table, my daughter J. will have a fit over your Monkey's! She has a jungle in her home! lol
ReplyDeleteMiss Ruby's Chicken Salad Recipe is on my side bar.
ReplyDelete*** OH MY GOOOOOONNNNESS GRACIOUS, GOLLUM~~~ by GOLLY, you are GOOOOOD, GIRLfriend!!! Wonder if anyone ELSE here is enchanted w/ the "wearing out" look at the bottom of that fab tureen~ I ADORE it when I see that! Makes me feel like it's not "just for show" but has been lovingly used & appreciated over time! And as a fellow crystal lover, but not too knowledgeable about it all, I MUST SAY all your green glassware is to-die-for endearing!!! ~~~ it has a warm, simple-yet-elegantly-comfy look about it, & the fact that you collected old silver, one piece at a time, is a testament to your dedication of just "doing what feels right"... (that's part of the flair that makes you so GOOD at all of "this"!). THENNNNN, mixing in PLASTIC BOBECHES?!?!?!~~~ It's DARING,so IRREVERANT, SO FUN... WHO WUDDA THUNK?!?!?!?!? (And remind me, PLZ, to tell you about a the flair of a woman, a "fledgling Rothschild" quite a while back, w/ a "special style & approach" too, ok?). BTW, when I "cut back", I had to "get rid" of monkeys ALMOST IDENTICAL TO YOURS, and OH! How I ADORED THEM! This made me smile thinking of "Cuff" & "Link"!!! THIS BLOG was UBER DELIGHTFUL~~~ THANK YOU!!! This was soooooooooo DELIGHTFUL!!! XO

ReplyDeleteWhen your through 'monkeying' around ;) head on over to my blog to pick up an award.
Love all of your tablescape pieces, I have a great time mixing all of mine too. After carting the china, etc. back and forth these past weeks, and cleaning it all, by hand, I'm afraid I wasn't up to 'tablescaping' (is that a word?)this week.
I want time to get back to writing.:(
Hugs

Everything you put on the table is sooooooooo beautiful. Except for the monkeys. They just freak me out. And I don't think I could sit and have a meal while looking up a monkey's ass either. LOL
ReplyDeleteJustine :o )

ReplyDeleteGollum, you've done it again! How can you create a tablescape that is both beautiful and whimsical? That green crystal is magnificant! I've never seen that china pattern, but I'm going to start looking for some (as if I had a place to store any). The sparkle of the candlesticks adds the perfect touch. I love it all. laurie

Everything - PERFECTION! When I look at your precious monkeys I am reminded of Phantom of the Opera (the film version)and the charming music box. Also, in a funny way of my sisters and our monkey faces. Thank you so much for the flatware info, I just may purchase what I found on Amazon ... but I'm still looking for a better price.
ReplyDeleteloads of fun! or should i say mad monkey fun~ your pics look super! the tureen is beautiful. i love your dishes, like a summer garden. green glasses are so ... ME! i call your mirror placemats a diet maker, to have to my huge jowls and chins wavering with every bite, its enough to have me run into the kitchen and eat a side of beef standing over the kitchen sink! great tt, thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Tablescape presentation~ We have much in common, adore the "getting lost" in crystal pics! You see the "freeze frame" moments and pull the reader in! The green depression glassware is like a fresh spoon of whipping cream, it tops it off! I really have enjoyed my visit today! Thanks so kindly! ~CC Catherine
ReplyDeleteWow, looks beautiful! I have a lot of depression glass I would like to sell, no more space for it! lol
ReplyDeleteLove the green glasses...
Buffie

ReplyDeleteXO...Kathy
psst, come on by, i got a little something for you, no cal even~
ReplyDeleteI love the green depression glass as part of the setting! The beautiful pale greens paired with the yellows bring a freshness and elegance to your table. I've been a collector for years and love seeing new combinations.
ReplyDeleteFrankensheep does sound rather scary Gollum, you sure got your exercise for the day after being chased, so don't feel bad about the jellybellies, hope Dr Gollum and Billy Bob have recovered.
ReplyDeleteWOW your tablescape is enchanting, the monkey's remind me of Phantom too. those candlesticks are genius, your collections are perfect, I love your tureen.
You could put anything in that gorgeous room and it would look elegant! AND, you always manage to do a tablescape that is equally elegant! Love it. Sally
ReplyDeleteGollum~ ~Everytime I arrive at your place I have to smile at that silly donkey face.
ReplyDeleteLove the tureen too. I really should have one for the Bloggers Soup Swap I am hosting. It would make a nice table but alas, I have yet to aquire one. I'll not give up looking.
Thank goodness the monkey at Dr. Gollums end of the table was facing sideways! They are so cute.
Love the monkeys. The fabric on the wingback chairs in our living room has monkeys in it.
ReplyDeleteLordy woman I wish I had half your dishes (grins) Love the monkeys!! You know I am a sucker for anything that appears slightly tropical;) You have a real knack for this! Really you do;) French
ReplyDeleteOh, Dear Gollum - how beautiful is your table! I love those dishes. I've never seen that pattern before! Your candles around the tureen remind me of a cage for your little silly monkeys! How precious are they! Now the crystal with green feet - oh, I want some! Your dining room is just gorgeous! You've brought a little bit of sweet spring to us today, Dear Gollum.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Came back for a quick visit ... scares the pants off of you literally I would say! It WAS funny to read though, I can just picture you running for shelter and safety.
ReplyDeleteYour table is gorgeous and I love love love your stemware!
ReplyDeleteDear Gollum,
ReplyDeleteI ADORE your MONKEY BUSINESS tablescape! How creative! I too love the Zinnia pattern - absolutely gorgeous. The candlesticks are exquisite. It is wonderful to have items passed from one generation to the next. Your table is wonderful. I love the pairing of silver, stemware and whimsical monkeys. Too fun!
I love your zinnia plates, depression glass and I especially love how you talk about your things like old and dear friends that you have just invited to dinner. This is such a treat.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the zinnia plates...never seen that pattern before, as well as love the glassware and monkey stuff. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHello again, Love those zinnias on the china! And monkeys..why I have a monkey with a fez, but he cannot be put in a tablescape. All that green depression glass... some of it actually looks similar to vaseline glass. (I have a big weakness for that) Does it glow under a black light? Not that you'd have black light shining on your tablescapes!! ;) I may have told you I sold a set of vaseline glass sherbets from the 1910's for pennies, really, without knowing what they were worth. sob...thanks for the fun post, Jan
ReplyDeleteP.S. Dear Gollum, My older son would describe your tablescape as having some 'light hearted buffoonery' which is a huge compliment in his estimation...
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful table scape. I love the green depression glass. So very pretty! Hugs, Bobbi Jo
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so jealous of your monkeys! My childhood nickname, given me by my aunt and uncle, was "monkeyshiner," they always bought me monkey-themed gifts.
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is so beautiful, and I have enjoyed looking over past posts to see all your lovely dishes. I'm a bit of a dish-a-holic myself.
Mary, at Little Red House
Love your tablescape and LOVE those darling monkeys. The china pattern, depression glass, and goblets all work so well together! It's all beautiful and displayed in such a lovely room on a beautiful table!
ReplyDeleteCan't get enough of that green depression glass! I never though of pairing it up with such a mix of items, but you know what? It looks great! Well done!
